Case III — The G45 Alumni Reinstatement

Case III — The G45 Alumni Reinstatement

Date: July 2025
Status: Judicial Precedent
Subject: Former Members and Alumni Reinstatement

Matter Before the Court

The High Pastry Court was asked to determine whether a former Member of the Greggs Friday Breakfast Club could return to the Club without being required to complete the ordinary admission process applicable to a new Member.

The Court considered whether former membership should permanently prevent an individual from returning to the Club, and whether a formal mechanism could exist for the restoration of a former Member’s status.

Constitutional Provisions Considered

  • Article II — Membership
  • Article V — Members & Offices
  • Article X — Judicial Precedent

Judgment

The Court determined that former membership does not, in itself, constitute permanent exclusion from the Greggs Friday Breakfast Club.

The Court recognised that distinguished former Members may, in appropriate circumstances, be permitted to return to the Club through a dedicated alumni reinstatement mechanism.

The Court therefore established the G45 Alumni Reinstatement principle, under which a former Member possessing a valid G45 may seek restoration of membership without being required to repeat the ordinary admission process applicable to a new Member.

Reinstatement remains subject to the constitutional requirements and formal recognition of the High Pastry Court.

Order / Verdict

REINSTATEMENT PERMITTED.

A former Member holding a valid G45 may seek reinstatement under the Club’s Alumni Reinstatement provisions.

Penalty / Remedy

None.

The ruling establishes a mechanism for restoration of membership and does not impose a penalty.

Precedent

Yes — Judicial Precedent

This case establishes the principle that:

A former Member is not necessarily permanently excluded from the Greggs Friday Breakfast Club and may, where constitutionally eligible, seek reinstatement as an alumnus.

The possession of a G45 establishes eligibility to seek reinstatement; it does not itself automatically restore membership.

Any individual reinstatement remains subject to the requirements of the Constitution and the authority of the High Pastry Court.

Constitutional Effect

The principle established by this case was subsequently incorporated into the Constitution through the G45 Alumni Reinstatement provision of Article II.

Accordingly:

Case III establishes the judicial precedent.
Article II establishes the governing constitutional mechanism.
The Members & Offices Register records the resulting membership status.
