Dates: 14 August 2026 & 21 August 2026
Status: Court Ruling
Subject: Unauthorised guest attendance and subsequent voluntary return
Matter Before the Court
The High Pastry Court was asked to determine whether The Rogue Doughnut acted unlawfully when he invited a new starter from the GRC side of the organisation to attend the Friday Greggs congregation with the Security Operations side of the Club without obtaining the required prior authorisation.
The guest subsequently returned voluntarily on 21 August 2026.
The Court was therefore required to consider both the procedural breach and the circumstances surrounding the guest’s attendance and subsequent return.
Constitutional Provisions Considered
- Article II — Membership
- Article IX — Exemptions, Pardons & Guests
- Article X — Judicial Precedent
The Facts Before the Court
On Friday 14 August 2026, The Rogue Doughnut invited a new starter from the GRC side of the organisation to attend the Club’s Friday Greggs meeting.
The invitation was made:
- without prior knowledge of the Court;
- without consultation with the membership; and
- without the required guest authorisation.
The guest nevertheless attended peacefully and without incident.
On Friday 21 August 2026, the guest subsequently returned to Greggs voluntarily and without prompting.
The Court found that the guest had been invited for legitimate team-building purposes, behaved appropriately and had not been recruited with any malicious intent.
Judgment
The Court determined that the invitation was not authorised.
The Rogue Doughnut therefore committed a procedural violation.
However, the Court found no evidence of malicious intent or any attempt to undermine the Club, seize control of its pastry infrastructure or introduce hostile agents into the Conference Suite.
The subsequent voluntary return of the guest was considered significant evidence that the original invitation had, despite being procedurally improper, produced a positive outcome for the Club.
The Court therefore granted full mitigation.
Verdict
Unauthorised Guest Admission
GUILTY.
The invitation was made without the required authorisation.
Malicious Pastry Recruitment
NOT GUILTY.
No evidence of malicious intent was established.
Causing a Diplomatic Incident
ACQUITTED.
The Court found that the guest’s subsequent voluntary return demonstrated a successful, rather than damaging, introduction to the Club.
Sentence
1. No Pastry Point Deduction
The procedural breach is acknowledged but fully mitigated.
2. No Cake Fine
The Court considers a Cake Fine disproportionate given the circumstances and successful outcome.
3. Formal Warning
The Rogue Doughnut is formally reminded that a successful unauthorised decision does not retrospectively become authorised.
Future guest invitations and guest attendance must follow the proper procedure and be referred through the Court where required.
4. Recognition of the Guest
The guest shall remain recorded in the Guest of Honour Registrar as a visiting guest who attended on 14 August 2026 and subsequently returned on 21 August 2026.
The guest’s attendance does not confer membership, create membership candidacy or impose any obligation to attend future meetings.
Precedent
No — Individual Court Ruling
This judgment applies to the particular circumstances of the Rogue Doughnut’s unauthorised invitation.
The Court’s decision to grant full mitigation does not establish a general right to invite unauthorised guests, nor does a successful guest attendance excuse failure to obtain the required authorisation in future cases.
Future unauthorised guest matters shall be determined independently according to the circumstances of each case.

The Court’s Observation
The Court notes the considerable irony that The Rogue Doughnut, who has historically demonstrated a somewhat relaxed attitude towards constitutional procedure, managed on this occasion to produce a beneficial result through an unauthorised act.
The Court therefore records:
The Rogue Doughnut breached the rules, but somehow strengthened the Club.
An unusual achievement.
Final Determination
Procedurally guilty, with full mitigation.
No Pastry Points deducted.
No additional Cake Fine imposed.
Guest formally recognised.
Future guest invitations require proper authorisation.
So ruled. So recorded.
