Case XI — The People v. The Rogue Doughnut (III)

The Attempted Cancellation of the Friday Congregation

Case Reference: Case XI
Date of Incident: 3 September 2026
Date of Ruling: 3 September 2026
Accused: The Rogue Doughnut
Complainant: The High Pastry Court, upon receipt of an anonymous tip
Tipster: The Villager Sultan — identity protected at the time of submission
Subject: Attempted unilateral cancellation of the Friday Breakfast Club

Matter Before the Court

The Court received an anonymous report alleging that The Rogue Doughnut had declared that the Friday Breakfast Club meeting at Greggs was “CANCELLED”, on the basis that Club members were due to attend Hanbao for a team burger lunch later that day.

The Court was required to determine whether a Permanent Member possesses authority to unilaterally cancel a constitutionally scheduled Friday Breakfast Club meeting on such grounds.

Constitutional Provisions Considered

Article I — The Friday Principle

The Constitution establishes Friday morning as the protected and principal meeting of the Club.

Article IV — The High Pastry Court

The Court possesses jurisdiction to interpret and enforce the Constitution and to impose appropriate judicial orders and sanctions.

Article VI — The Pastry Point System

The Court may award or deduct Pastry Points in accordance with conduct, service, breaches and judicial rulings.

Article VIII — Punishments

The Court may impose Cake Fines, Pastry Point deductions, cautions and other appropriate sanctions.

Findings of Fact

  1. The Friday Breakfast Club was scheduled to meet on Friday morning.
  2. The Rogue Doughnut announced that Greggs was “CANCELLED”.
  3. The stated reason was the existence of a separate team lunch at Hanbao later that day.
  4. No constitutional provision grants an individual Permanent Member unilateral authority to cancel the Friday congregation merely because another meal is planned.
  5. No Court order had cancelled or adjourned the meeting.
  6. Hanbao’s burgers, however magnificent, do not constitute the Friday Breakfast Club meeting.

Judgment

GUILTY

The Court finds The Rogue Doughnut guilty of an unauthorised attempt to cancel the Friday Breakfast Club.

The Court emphasises that the offence lies not in organising or attending the later burger lunch, but in purporting to cancel a constitutional Friday meeting without authority.

A burger lunch may coexist peacefully with Friday breakfast.

It cannot legislate over it.

Sentence

1. Pastry Point Deduction

The Rogue Doughnut shall lose 1 Pastry Point.

2. Cake Fine

One Cake Fine is imposed.

The precise cake shall be determined in accordance with the Court’s normal practice.

3. Friday Status

The Court declares that the Friday Breakfast Club meeting remains constitutionally scheduled notwithstanding the accused’s announcement.

Recognition of the Anonymous Tip

The Court separately recognises the information supplied by the anonymous tipster.

The tip identified conduct requiring judicial consideration and enabled the Court to intervene before the attempted cancellation could acquire the appearance of an accepted Club practice.

The Court therefore awards:

+1 Pastry Point to The Villager Sultan

The award is made for:

Outstanding Service to the Preservation of Friday

The tipster’s anonymity shall be respected in the public record unless the tipster subsequently chooses to disclose their identity.

Precedential Status

This judgment establishes the following principle:

A Permanent Member may not unilaterally cancel, suspend or replace a constitutionally scheduled Friday Breakfast Club meeting merely because an alternative social meal or event has been arranged.

This principle shall guide future cases involving attempted Friday cancellations.

Final Order

The Rogue Doughnut:
−1 Pastry Point
One Cake Fine
Guilty finding

The Villager Sultan:
+1 Pastry Point
Outstanding Service to the Preservation of Friday

Friday Breakfast Club:
NOT CANCELLED.

SO ORDERED.
